Peace as a Verb
There was a song at church camp that we sang that talked about peace. The short and long of it was this, “I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river, I’ve got peace like a river...in my soul.” It was just repeated a lot then you added, “joy like a fountain” and “love like an ocean” and you have yourself a camp song. Preparing for today and the notion of peace as a part of the Advent of our Lord, it got me thinking about that song. Peace, like a river. I’ve been on a few rivers and heard about a couple more of them.
Pay It Forward: Your Possessions
I was thinking about starting my own religion the other day. You might not have ever thought about it, but if you haven’t you might pick up a few pointers for starting your own religion here today. So if you’re going to start your own religion, I thought to myself, where should one begin? I believe a certain starting point would be to recruit a band of close friends whom you can also train to spread the teachings that are most important to you. Later on you can really get it going through television, books, and the internet is always a good booster for your own personal religion.
Pay It Forward: Your Talents
There are some advantages and disadvantages to owning a home. While owning a home does mean having your own place, some level of autonomy, it also comes with the occasional headaches too. One thing that varies differently from owning to renting is that when you own a home, and something breaks...it’s on you. There’s not super, there’s not management to call to come and fix something, you are the management. There are many times a never ending “to do” list that resides in many of our homes.
